Graveyard Point Regency Rose Plume Agate is found in the Owyhee Mountains of Oregon. This comes from the area called Graveyard Point, and the Regency Rose is the same Agate but more colorful plumes found in the area within the Graveyard Point digging area. Graveyard Point Plume Agate is a well-known seam agate found in far eastern Oregon. The area is only seven miles from Homedale, Idaho and just two miles across the Idaho-Oregon border. Agate enthusiasts have collected here for over 40 years and still do. There have been numerous commercial mining operations in the past, and there are 3 or 4 claims in the area now (Aug. 2000). Even with these claims there is ample area for free collecting and everyone who seeks agate here will find something. The Graveyard Point area is well known for angel wing chalcedony. Many specimens have delicately curved tips and look like they were blown in the wind. Besides blue, they can be tinted red, orange or even green. The plumes in this deposit grow from the sides of the seam towards center Plume agate primarily formed in cracks in basalt. The vertical veins range from one inch to 18 inches wide, from 10 to 40 feet long. This Smaller tumbling & cutting Material contains small pieces ideal for free form tumbling,cabochon and small slab cutting. These agates Takes an exceptional polish. This bag weighs 8 oz. (224 grams) and will contain an average of 3-5 nice size pieces. These are considered #2 grade. Each piece, depending upon it's weight will average about 1" to 2" in diameter. Some pieces will exhibit plumes & colors. Some pieces will be of a solid color nature. Great refill for any beginner-novice tumblers.
